Goals

Age-re­lated Mac­u­lar De­gen­er­a­tion (AMD) is a dis­ease of the light-sen­si­tive part of the eye (reti­na) that is re­spons­ible for vis­ion. AMD is a ma­jor cause of blind­ness in eld­erly people and due to the aging pop­u­la­tion, it has been re­ferred to as a “time bomb” in so­ci­e­ty.

Pro­ject status/ Re­sults

To con­tin­ue the­ra­py de­vel­op­ment, the private found­a­tion Pro­visu agreed to fin­an­cially sup­port the pro­ject in two phases; the pre-clini­cal phase was thought to col­lect pre-clini­cal data re­quired to get clini­cal study ap­prov­al and the clini­cal phase will com­prise the phase Ib/IIa clini­cal study. Phase I las­ted from March 1, 2020 to April 30, 2023, while phase II will start as soon as we will get the ap­prov­al to per­form the clini­cal tri­al, as­sumed for fall 2023.
